OKAVANGO DELTA

The Okavango Delta is fed by the Okavango River which flows in from Angola. Between June and August the flood peaks, causing the inland delta to increase to three times its normal size.

This natural phenomenon attracts huge concentrations of wildlife, including zebra, wildebeest, elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion and leopard. Excellent birdlife can be seen, particularly in the breeding season.

The numerous wildlife concessions within the Okavango Delta are there to protect these precious ecosystems.

It’s no wonder – with its sheer scale and magnificence – that the Okavango Delta has secured its place as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.

Meander through the lush waterways on a dug-out canoe surrounded by papyrus-fringed banks and lazy crocodile or, better yet, marvel at the indescribable sunsets as you wind down after a day of trekking game. The options are limitless. Land- and water-based activities include guided walks, game drives, mokoro trips, horse-back safaris and local village tours.
