Johannesburg, known as the “City of Gold” – product of the famous gold-rush in the 1880s – is a buzzing, vibrant city.   From historical sights of political importance to craft markets and museums, tours of Soweto to stylish clubs and bars, this city has a lot to offer.

Pretoria, otherwise known as the “Jacaranda City” because of its abundance of purple-blossomed tree-lined streets in November, is the administrative capital of South Africa.   Visit the Voortrekker Monument honouring 19th century Afrikaans settlers from the Cape Colony, and the Union Buildings which house the president’s offices and where Nelson Mandela was inaugurated.
